Utebzi (tebipenem) Medical Education

Utebzi is an oral carbapenem indicated for the treatment of complicated UTIs, including pyelonephritis, for adult patients with limited or no alternative oral treatment options.² As the first oral carbapenem available for cUTIs, Utebzi may provide flexibility in treatment setting, including for patients who have infections caused by certain multidrug-resistant Enterobacterales.^1-2

While access to effective antimicrobials is critical for treatment success and to reduce the spread of antimicrobial resistance, antimicrobial stewardship is an essential part of combating antimicrobial resistance.^3-4 Antimicrobials, including Utebzi, should be used judiciously to preserve their activity.⁴
